Q1.I have completed my Bachelor’s Degree, do I need to give overall percentage of marks or university score.

ANS) As per CAT exam rules and regulation qualification standards you have to submit percent based on your university norms.


Q2.Where do I pay my application fee?

ANS) The CAT exam fee is payable in online mode only by means of debit card, a valid credit or online net banking facility. No other payment modes are accepted.


Q3) what is the application fee for CAT 2016?

ANS) The registration/Application fee is Rs.1600/- for the general and NC-OBC candidates and Rs.800/- for the SC/SC/Person with Disability


Q4) How can I get my admit card for the test through online/post card?

ANS) Submitting the registration information during the online section you will receive the official mail containing your admit card. That was the reason candidate must maintain the valid email id throughout the registration process

Note: Admit Card is a mandatory requirement in order to test. You must bring a print out of your Admit Card to the test centre.


Q5) Can I take CAT more than once during the testing window?

ANS) No, It’s not possible to attend multiple times. Admit cards and id proof checked every time. In the test centers maintain the data of pictures and biometric information was captured


Q6) what is the computer-based format test

ANS) An applicant reads the questions on a computer screen and clicks the correct answer. Additionally a timer will be displayed on the screen .It will intimate the time during the exam. Separate color formats are maintained for answer block to review the questions. In the year 2016 newly introduce an online calculator for candidates.


Q7) Can I bring a calculator to the testing centre?

ANS) No, all the electronic gadgets are strictly prohibited in the exam centers. You may use the onscreen calculator that will be available throughout the exam.


Q8) Does CAT 2016 have a specific syllabus for exam?

ANS) No, This test does not have defined syllabus for preparation. Based on the experienced candidates view there is available study materials and mock tests in the online. These tests are helpful to understand the test pattern


Q9) I have done 10+2 and 2years degree, how should I enter my degree marks, since there is no provisional for 2 years degree?

ANS) You have to enter SSC/+2 marks in the respective fields. Additional option to be presented to enter your degree marks. Degree should be recognized by UGC, AIU or equivalent bodies for eligibility to CAT 2016.


Q10)  What is the expected month of exam and can I choose a test date?

ANS) CAT will be held during the period October 2016 – November 2016

 Yes, Applicant having the facility to choose a test date, test time, and venue across 40 cities all over India, subject to availability.


Q11) What are the different time slots for scheduling the test for a typical testing Day?

ANS) CAT schedule will have 2 exam sessions.

Candidates are to schedule for any one of the sessions, subject to availability. Session timings are as follows:

Session 1: Testing will begin at 10 AM. Candidates are required to arrive early at 8:30 AM for security checks, identity verification, and checking in.

Session 2: Testing will begin at 3:15 PM. Candidates are required to arrive at the test centre no later than 1:45 PM for security checks, and admit card verification through biometric


Q12) what are the identification documents required to be carried to the test Centre?

ANS) Candidates will need to bring the following identification documents on the test day:

CAT 2013 Admit Card

At least one original and valid (not expired) photo identification. The name on your photo identification must match your name as entered in the CAT application.

Acceptable forms of photo identification are limited to

  • Driver's license,
  • Passport,
  • PAN Card,
  • Voter ID,
  • College ID
  • Unique Identification Card (UID),

Date of Birth and Residential Address Photocopies of the original are not acceptable. Candidates will not be permitted to take the test if photo identification is not presented.

If SC/ST candidates required to provide a caste certificate as a proof. Throughout the admission process it is very important.

If you are a Differently Abled candidate and have requested for support during the Test.  Please carry the copy of the authorization of the support mailed to you by Prometric.
